ABOUT US

The Western Slope Center for Children (WSCC) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to facilitate and coordinate the work of existing governmental agencies and independent service providers to meet the needs of sexually abused children.

Our Mission

Western Slope Center for Children provides services to child sexual abuse victims and their families in a supportive environment that reduces trauma and promotes dignity, justice, and healing.

The Western Slope Center for Children provides a safe, child-friendly environment to facilitate the interviewing of children who are victims of abuse...mainly sexual abuse. In Mesa County, more than 500 children a year are harmed by sexual or physical abuse. These children need the careful attention of professionals trained to address their special needs.

In the past, each victim seeking help faced multiple contacts with different community professionals, creating a maze of confusion and distress for the child and family.

The Western Slope Center for Children (WSCC) has changed all of that. The Center is part of a nationwide effort to reduce the trauma of abuse so children are not re-victimized by the system designed to protect them, and prosecute offenders.

With your support, the WSCC allows service providers and professionals to come to the child instead of the child having to go from agency to agency.

We are a non-profit, 501(c) 3 agency and are entirely funded by grants and donations.
